Job Title: Manager – Rear Axles & Wheel Systems
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Design rear axle components and assemblies including gears, shafts, differential units, and housing.
Collaborate with suspension and drivetrain teams to ensure seamless integration of the rear axle into the overall truck system.
Develop detailed 3D models, assembly drawings, and technical specifications for rear axle components.
Optimize axle design for durability, performance, weight reduction, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
Apply knowledge of structural, thermal, and fatigue analysis to ensure compliance with performance and industry standards.
Review and interpret FEA reports for application suitability (torsional stiffness, load distribution, etc.).
Coordinate prototype development, testing, and validation while analyzing test results to refine designs.
Collaborate with manufacturing, product development, and quality teams to ensure production readiness and adherence to DFMA principles.
Partner with suppliers to source and validate high-quality materials and components.
Ensure designs comply with global automotive standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Track industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in axle and drivetrain systems.
Support project timelines by coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams for timely delivery.
Experience7–15 years of experience in axle/drivetrain system design and development.
Hands-on experience in commercial vehicle (CV) industry preferred.
Qualifications
B.E. / M.E. / M. Tech in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or related field.
General Requirements
Drive innovation, performance enhancement, and cost optimization in rear axle design.
Participate in root-cause analysis and problem-solving for axle performance and failures.
Proficient in allied engineering activities like SOR, CIR, DFMEA, DVP, and FTR preparation and sign-off.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for DFM, DFA, and DFS clearances.
Strong team leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.
Hands-on knowledge of problem-solving techniques and issue resolution during build and testing phases.
