Job Title: EHS Lead
Level: 4B / 4A
Reporting To: Maintenance and EHS Manager
Location: SKF Factory, Ahmedabad
Purpose of the Role Plan and drive the implementation of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs as per SKF Group guidelines and statutory requirements, with the objective of preventing or correcting unsafe environmental/working conditions and fostering a strong safety-first culture across the location.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure implementation of standardized EHS procedures and practices in line with company policies and statutory directives.
Maintain and update core EHS documentation (HIRA, Aspect-Impact analysis) and ensure practical on-ground implementation.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at achieving zero injury, applying hierarchy of controls.
Implement awareness campaigns, training programs, safety drills, and recognition initiatives to strengthen safety culture.
Create, implement, and enforce Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) across operations.
Recommend process and product safety features to minimize employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
Identify unsafe activities, potential hazards, and recommend corrective measures to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Develop proactive action plans to reduce near-misses and accidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective/preventive measures.
Drive environmental control plans, ensuring compliance with statutory norms and ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Liaise with external stakeholders (factory inspector, pollution board, government agencies) for smooth statutory compliance.
Ensure usage of PPE and appropriate work-specific tools by employees and contractors.
Conduct routine and surprise checks to review safety programs, ensuring adequacy and corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with OHSAS, EMS standards and oversee renewal of all licenses and permits.
Conduct training needs analysis, identify skill gaps, and prepare annual/monthly/weekly EHS training calendars.
Ensure contractor safety management practices are strictly adhered to on site.
Key Metrics Number of accidents, near-misses, first-aids, and unsafe condition reports.
Compliance with statutory safety, health, and environmental parameters.
Progress on EHS & sustainability initiatives.
Adherence to statutory norms, licensing, and SKF EHS policies.
Training plan completion and effectiveness.
Competencies In-depth knowledge of EHS practices in manufacturing organizations.
Strong knowledge of statutory norms and both local & global EHS standards.
Change management capabilities to drive cultural transformation.
Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
Conflict management and problem-solving abilities.
Candidate Profile Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Mandatory: Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety.
10+ years of experience in EHS within manufacturing organizations.
Preferably certified Lead/Internal Auditor in ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015.
Preferred certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH.
